To quote
Wikipedia, "A xenolith (Greek: 'foreign rock') is a rock fragment which becomes enveloped in a larger rock during the latter's development and hardening."
I found this example at our local rock and brick store.

Wow! It took me awhile to track you down. I love your xenolith all to pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by to visit. The biggest reason I chose this word too is because I'm a rock hound from way back when I was a little kid. I have more xenoliths and other oddities that any one human should be allowed!
