It started raining shortly after this, and then it was just yucky for the rest of the day.

Sometimes, you just gotta look up...

I walked out of the house this morning prepared for the daily drag, and what did I catch, but this site.

I love that moon, and the condensation trail from a previous plane, combined with the jetliner coming into SFO were just the perfect composition.

South San Francisco Landscape

Day #1 of the 2nd year.

A composition with trees...

A clear day today, and I just started taking pictures whereever I was. This one I like particularly -- the trees fit together really nice in this composition.

By the way, this is my 365th post!!! That's right folks, I've officially been dumping my crap on you for a whole year. Can you believe it?

I'm not at all sure that I can -- this is the longest streak of doing anything daily that I've ever done (that didn't involve dying if I dropped the ball).

Closet Cleanout

One of the side effects of losing weight is the closet cleanout. Caryn has lost almost 30 pounds and I'm starting to drop a little too. We cleaned out our closet of clothes that didn't fit anymore, and we are putting them together for a trip to one of the many "recycling" charities.

Tossing the stick

There are a bunch of dogs at Crissy field that LOVE to chase sticks into the surf. I loved the view of this kid getting ready to toss it to the dog, who is at least twice as big as he is.

Rainy and Dark -- but colorful...

Big rain storm in the bay area today. Wet roads, not much light.

Still, street lights, stop lights, etc, make for nice color...

Driftwood

Taken at Pescadero beach last weekend, before the ugly stuff started to fall around here.

It's rainy season, so you'll likely see pictures taken at something approaching weeklong intervals, then meted out one a day for a while.

Con Trail

Looked up while walking in a forest and saw this condensation trail behind a pretty low-level airplane. This was quite a way from the airport (probably about 45 miles from the nearest one, which would have been San Jose).

Pilot's Row

These houses are in The Presidio at the northern tip of San Francisco. Built in the 30s to house pilots who flew out of Crissy Field, they sit directly across from the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Bend in the Road

Taken near Pescadero (off Highway 1, south of Half Moon Bay).

Bright Red Berries

The color is so lush here. I also like the juxtaposition of the marina through the bush.

The Pink Church on the edge of Golden Gate Park

This church is on 19th street (aka Hwy 1) about a block south of the entrance to Golden Gate Park. The cross on the top is beautifully lit at night (one of these days I'll try to get a night shot of it).

Went downtown on a picture taking journey.

I found this view walking down from the Philo Farnsworth Lab (where Television was invented). Since it was Sunday -- the parking was free!

Seriously, the scaffolding around this building in downtown SF made for a fairly interesting sight.

Some fungus among us...

A patch of mushrooms growing at the base of a tree near the bay. Interesting looking, but probably deadly.

Rocks at the shore

Walking along the shore on the western edge of the bay, I caught this view of these rocks. I liked the colors, the shapes, the light, etc...

Pine Cone

Amazing how a little green and a little brown come together in nature. Texture, color, and contrast, all together.

Oyster Point Inn Towers

Wet rainy overcast day -- so I'm showing more shots from my run to Oyster Point Inn yesterday.

The view through Dominicks...

Dominick's is a great little restaurant attached to the Oyster Point Inn just down the street from my office. This beautiful little spot makes for some interesting pictures.

This is actually their banquet hall, with the bay and the marina behind it.

The last doggie picture for a while -- I promise!!

Ziggy got groomed today, and I caught them on playing and got them to look up at the camera at the same time.

Yeah, I know, this is supposed to be the San Francisco Bay Area photo blog, not the "Franson's Dogs" photo blog. The year is early -- it will get better...

Storm Damage

On our way to take Clayton back to Davis I saw this downed tree.

The picture speaks to finality -- the old tree fallen in the cemetery, the old stones askew and the interplay between them.

'Sup?

Ok, now that you've seen the title, you won't be able to look at the picture without thinking about Ziggy catching your eye as you walk in the room, and cooly saying "'Sup?"

Resolution -- day 1

Not *my* resolution, mind you -- but it is for some folks.

Fascinating contrast in the lines on the turf, and the track's red is pretty amazing.

January Theme Day -- The Best Photo of 2007

Today's meme is "The Best Photo of 2007".

After much deliberation, my choice is this one:



This shot was taken September 30th up by Healdsburg in the Sonoma County Wine Country. I chose this one because I liked the composition, and the way that the colors blend and contrast.


The choice was not easy -- in fact, of the folks I consulted, nearly every female prefered this one:
