Thomas' Tattoo -- now in Color!

Thomas's arm

Back in October, Thomas got a tattoo (why is it that I can't consistently spell that word correctly?).

The same artist was in the area for a Tattoo Expo over the weekend, and he had it colored and had the banner added.

Speeding Police Boat

Police Boat

Walking the doggies on Crissy Field, we saw this boat first as it was headed out escorting a large container ship out the bay.

About 20 minutes later, the he rushed by on his way back to base.

Mixed focus: Clemmy behind the wire

My back yard mountain

Sunlit hill

I'm blessed to live in a really beautiful area. When ever I step outside and the light is even slightly oblique to the mountain, I'm treated with a this site. The texture of the hill, with it's wide valley shadows, is really outstanding.

Mercy High

Mercy

I like the convex dome above the doorway here. As you drive down 19th, it is sometimes hard to tell whether it bows in or out.

Coincidence, not irony...

Change?

Clayton caught this one. You can drop by the Obama office and get you some change, then use that change to go wash your clothes at the laundromat...

Nut Trees

Nut Trees

On my home from taking Clayton back to Davis, I stopped an took this shot.

I'm embarrassed to say, I really don't know what the crop is, but given the fact that the name of the exit is "Nut Tree Road", that it must be SOME sort of nut...

I left my heart....

SF Heart

Seen at the entrance to the "Park Merced" complex in far southern San Francisco, this is one of the original "Hearts In San Francisco" from 2004

Going up the stairs

Going up the stairs

Just off the Embarcadero, down Green Street, right next the building where Philo Farnsworth first fired up his image dissector in 1927, giving birth to the modern television, is a set of stairs that lead up to Coit Tower.

I tried walking up these stairs a few weeks ago, and, well, this is as close as I got to the tower.

One of these days, I'll get all the way up.

The inside of the SF Swedenborgian Church

Swedenborgian church

Opened in 1895, this beautiful church in the Presidio Heights section of San Francisco is a national historic landmark.

The outside is quite beautiful too.

Rainbow

Rainbow

Driving home on Skyline right after the rain stopped, I caught this.

Wires, wires, wires

That's a lot of wires

The avenues in the sunset district of San Francisco has almost no underground wires. This part of the city is a mish-mash of interconnected electrical, cable, and phone wires.

It makes it challenging to get good shots because they are always "contaminated" by wires, but it also presents opportunities to get shots like this, with the beauty inherent in chaos.

Rollover

20000

Borrowed the kid's Z to deal with my car being in the shop. While on the way home, at a stoplight, I noticed that the mileage had just flipped over to 20K (it was 19993 when I started driving, by the way -- I wasn't abusing the man's car!).

Starting to come around

DSC_0033.JPG

Arnie the foster dog is starting to come around. He doesn't pee himself everytime he sees me move anymore, and Caryn is actually able to get him to come to her by talking to him.

Much progress!!

Still a long way to go though.

Dark today...

03-05-08.jpg

My step-sons' grandfather passed away today.

JD was a kind, honest, hard working man. He was a father figure of extraordinary maturity and wisdom to my step-sons and his other grandchildren. He and his marvelous wife Judy have always treated Caryn and myself as nothing less than family.

He fought to protect his country with distinction, then came home and raised his family with the same level of love and dedication.

Many people are deeply saddened today, and the reason is simple -- JD touched a lot of lives in a very positive manner.

I'm forgoing a picture today in his memory.

The Infinity

Ship model

Lazy Monday night -- got to be late without a picture, so I took this.

It's the model that we bought when my wife and I took my mother on an Alaska Cruise in 2005.

Stairs Mosaic

Stair Mural

At 16th and Moraga in San Francisco, this stair case climbs up the hill. The mosaic is beautiful, and, as you can see below, quite detailed.
