Minneapolis is an interesting place...

DSC_0016

I'm sitting in my car, talking to Caryn on my lunch break. Now, mind you, this is a pretty urban area in Minneaoplis.

I look up and see a fully grown wild turkey walking in front of my car. By the time I got my camera up and the lens cap off, he was already walking across the field next to the office, but I got this pic.

Kids playing soccer

DSC_0008

We went to see my grandson playing soccer this morning.

Roller Derby!

CIMG0063

We went to see the Oklahoma City Victory Dolls play tonight. I took the small Casio, rather than the D3000, so the lighting wasn't too good -- all of my shots came out pretty dark and I had to enhance them to bring out the images.

On the bright side, this editing actually seems to have added a nice quality to the photos, given the subject.

This girl, Phoenix Envy, was the hero of the evening. She was amazingly fast, and she really threw some good moves to get through the pack.

Here's another shot of the action:

A replica of Wylie Post's airplane, which hangs in the atrium of the Oklahoma Museum of History, near the state capitol.

We sat under this tonight while we watched an amazing performance by members of the Red Dirt Rangers. The play, "Time Changes Everything" is an imagining of a couple of meetings between Woody Guthrie and Bob Wills. This was followed by performance by RDR. Even though Caryn and I had to take our lives into our hands going out in the snow, it was WELL worth it.

ABC Wednesday -- H is for Haunted Historical Hilton Hotel

DSC_0004

Behold, the Hilton Skirvin Hotel, downtown Oklahoma City.

DSC_0007

Earlier this year, when the New York Knicks played the OKC Thunder here in Oklahoma City. The Knicks lost the game, and some of the players claimed that it was because they couldn't sleep as their hotel (the Skirvin) was haunted. More on the story can be found here.

New foster dog -- Grover

DSC_0048

This is our new foster dog. He was picked up as a stray in Burns Flat (far west Oklahoma) and the local animal shelter was full. The lady that picked him up called Ok Yorkie Rescue, and our president ran out and picked him up, then dropped him off with us. There's quite a bit of work to do -- he has a vet appointment tomorrow for shots, flea control, microchip, etc, then sometime next week he'll get snipped. He has some training to be done, but he's very friendly and pretty sweet (he's actually laying next to me as I write this). Once he's ready, he's going to make a fine pet for someone.

And, yes, I know that "Das Boot" means "the Boat"

Catching up for Tuesday -- odd reflections

DSC_0031

Got behind on Tuesday, and missed a post for that day, so this is the catch up. Went walking around at lunchtime on a very pretty day in downtown OKC, and just liked the way the building behind me looked in the reflections.

Flat rocks and good news.

Although the picture has nothing to do with this ...

GREAT NEWS!!

The bill I spoke of in my last post was passed in the Senate with an 38-8 vote. It is now off to the house, and expect me to be twisting your arm on that next.
