ABC Wednesday -- B is for Bad Weather
Folklore says that a ring around the moon predicts the onset of unsettled weather, especially in the winter. Given that the forecast for Thursday is calling for record amounts of freezing rain, sleet, and snow, I'd say that the ring isn't lying.

Self Portrait in Safety Coin
Each year, our company presents us with a military-type "challenge" coin to serve as a constant reminder of the overarching importance of safety in an organization such as ours (an electric utility).
This year's coin is very shiny, and when I looked down at it, I caught a slight reflection of myself in the middle of the coin. Whip out the blackberry, angle things to get my face in the coin a bit more, and voilà ..

OKC Rises on a cold winter morning -- part 2
Ok, I don't often rave about my own pictures, but I think I nailed it with this one. But before I expound further, I really must insist that you click through to the larger version (which just doesn't post well on the blog) by clicking here
There are a BUNCH of elements in this pic that sing to me -- the depth of field, the muted and yet vibrant colors, the way the eye is drawn from quadrant to quadrant. Expect to see this one on New Year's Day's "best of" post.

OKC Rises on a cold winter morning -- part 1
Sorry for the whole "Placeholder" thing. Our internet is down at the house, so I had to muscle my way though trying to edit the blog on the wife's iPhone, which proved daunting (especially since I really didn't have a good pic for the day).
Part 2, posted later today (Wednesday, 1/6) is actually a REALLY good shot, so be sure to check in around 3:00 or so this afternoon (CST).

Best picture of 2009
Well, it's that time of the year again -- time for me to pick my best-of-the-year photo.
This year, the choice came down to 8 photos, which I ran by my family, and the selection was, basically, unanimous.
Without further ado -- the best picture from the PFRANSON365 blog is:
Taken on December 12th, this is a view of a sunrise through some bare trees next door.
The runner ups were:
This picture of our former foster dog Arnie was taken on January 12
I really like the feeling of serenity in this picture, taken in South San Francisco on January 30th.
The clouds in this picture seem somehow surreal in this picture taken on February 11th
This wave was breaking near the Pacifica Pier on February 26th
The cliffs around San Francisco's Fort Funston was taken on February 28th
Taken on March 9th in on the island in Stowe Lake in Golden Gate Park
This sculpture is in downtown Oklahoma City, and was one of the first pictures I took after
we moved back. June 27th.
