Smiling Light

DSC_0002

This light fixture in downtown OKC seemed to form a smiling face. I liked the juxtaposition of the clouds and other structures in relation to the light fixture.

More Thunder Mania

Thunder flag

Our city is caught in playoff fever. The Thunder, the former Seattle Supersonics, who moved here a couple of years ago, are actually in the playoffs. This makes the first time that a major league team in a big time sport has been in a playoff situation in Oklahoma history.

ABC Wednesday -- H is for Haunted Historical Hilton Hotel

DSC_0004

Behold, the Hilton Skirvin Hotel, downtown Oklahoma City.

DSC_0007

Earlier this year, when the New York Knicks played the OKC Thunder here in Oklahoma City. The Knicks lost the game, and some of the players claimed that it was because they couldn't sleep as their hotel (the Skirvin) was haunted. More on the story can be found here.

Catching up for Tuesday -- odd reflections

DSC_0031

Got behind on Tuesday, and missed a post for that day, so this is the catch up. Went walking around at lunchtime on a very pretty day in downtown OKC, and just liked the way the building behind me looked in the reflections.

OKC Rises on a cold winter morning -- part 2

DSC_0022

Ok, I don't often rave about my own pictures, but I think I nailed it with this one. But before I expound further, I really must insist that you click through to the larger version (which just doesn't post well on the blog) by clicking here

There are a BUNCH of elements in this pic that sing to me -- the depth of field, the muted and yet vibrant colors, the way the eye is drawn from quadrant to quadrant. Expect to see this one on New Year's Day's "best of" post.

OKC Rises on a cold winter morning -- part 1

DSC_0017

Sorry for the whole "Placeholder" thing. Our internet is down at the house, so I had to muscle my way though trying to edit the blog on the wife's iPhone, which proved daunting (especially since I really didn't have a good pic for the day).

Part 2, posted later today (Wednesday, 1/6) is actually a REALLY good shot, so be sure to check in around 3:00 or so this afternoon (CST).

Lots of lights

DSC_0017

With the rapidly decreasing cost of LED Christmas lights, the "enrobing" of facades of buildings in colored and white lights is becoming much more popular.

All of these buildings are within about 3 blocks of each other near downtown Oklahoma City.
