Rocks at the shore

Rocks at the shore

Walking along the shore on the western edge of the bay, I caught this view of these rocks. I liked the colors, the shapes, the light, etc...

58,000 gallons of oil

Oil in water

Went with my cousin and her husband sightseeing around town. We ended up down at Fort Point. The rocks were chained off and this sign was up.

Expect several more shots from today in the days to come.

No oil here...

No oil here

I was very worried that the oil from the container ship accident would come down as far as where we work. As you might know from previous entries, we have a pacific harbour seal that lives in that part of the bay (we call her "Heidi") and we were concerned that she would be affected by the oil.

As of now, as you can see, we don't seem to seeing any of the nasty guck.

Depth at the pier...

This is the pier at the Oyster Point Marina.

I chose this picture because of the depth of field. The camera picks up both the entire length of the pier AND the mountains on the other side of the bay.

Low, low, low tide -- and our seal returns ...

At lunch today, there was an intensly low tide on our side of the bay. It's always bizzare to see all the stuff that's normally under water.

One thing was revealed was our old buddy the pacific harbor seal from April 25th. The good news is that he seems to be fine -- he moved quite a bit, looks wet, and was actually seen swimming around later after the water returned. Below -- see a closeup of the circled area from above. Each picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.
